Minori
The smallest municipality on the Amalfi Coast hides a 1st-century Roman villa beneath its streets, artisan pastry shops that locals from across the coast come to visit, and the quiet authenticity that the bigger names have long since lost.
Minori sits between Maiori and Atrani, just 10 minutes by bus from Amalfi. The village is compact enough to explore completely on foot in a morning, leaving the afternoon free for eating: the pastry tradition here is serious, and the scialatielli pasta - thick, short ribbons best served with seafood - was invented in this corner of the coast.

What to See and Eat
1st-Century Roman Villa
Discovered in the 1950s beneath the town centre, this is one of the best-preserved Roman maritime villas on the coast. Beautifully decorated with frescoes and mosaic floors. Free entry, open year-round.
Scialatielli pasta
Invented by chef Enrico Cosentino in Minori in 1978, scialatielli are thick, short pasta ribbons best served with clams, mussels and local seafood. Try them at one of the village's traditional trattorias.
Delizia al limone
A soft sponge cake soaked in limoncello cream and covered in a lemon custard glaze. The pastry shops of Minori are considered the best on the entire coast for this classic coastal dessert.
Gole di Sant'Elia
A short gorge walk (about 1.5 km) starting from the village centre, following the Regina torrent into a lush, shaded valley. Free and easy; no technical equipment required.
