Amalfi Coast · Sunset & Quiet
Praiano
Authentic and tranquil between Positano and Amalfi, with legendary sunsets and crystal-clear waters.
Praiano is split into two hamlets: Vettica Maggiore (the upper part, along the main road) and Marina di Praia (the small bay at sea level, reachable via steps or by car through a tunnel). The village is known for its diving conditions, its August candle festival (the Luminaria di San Domenico) and for having the best west-facing sunset view on the coast.

What to See and Do
San Gennaro Sunset Terrace
The west-facing terrace of the Church of San Gennaro in Vettica Maggiore is the finest sunset viewpoint on the Amalfi Coast, with an unobstructed view toward Capri and the open sea. Free, open at all hours.
Marina di Praia
A tiny bay enclosed between two cliffs, with a pebble beach, fishing boats and a few beach bars. Reachable by steps from the SS163 or through a rock tunnel by car. One of the most photogenic spots on the coast.
Gavitella Beach
A cove with clear water accessible by boat or via a long staircase. Quieter than Marina di Praia; ideal for snorkelling.
Luminaria di San Domenico (1–4 August)
Thousands of candles are lit every evening to honour the Dominican tradition. On 4 August the finale includes fire performances and projections. Free access.
