Massa Lubrense

Massa Lubrense is a municipality of 15 scattered hamlets among olive groves and lemon orchards on the hillside facing Capri. Each hamlet has its own character: Nerano for foodies, Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi for the best dual-gulf views, and Marina del Cantone for the best beach on the peninsula.

from Punta Campanella to Capri

The Punta Campanella marine reserve was among the first established in Italy. It now protects 1,172 hectares of seabed with posidonia meadows, coralligenous habitat, and protected species including the loggerhead sea turtle.

Must-See

Marina del Cantone

The bay with light pebbles and the clearest water on the peninsula, protected by the Punta Campanella Marine Reserve. Perfect for snorkeling. Reachable by bus from Sorrento or by boat from Capri.

Spaghetti alla Nerano

The most famous dish in the area: spaghetti with generously fried zucchini, melted Provolone del Monaco, fresh basil, and a touch of pecorino. Invented at Trattoria da Maria Grazia in Nerano in the 1950s. Try it at Conca del Sogno or at Maria Grazia herself.

Punta Campanella

The rocky tip with ruins of an Athena temple and a 14th-century Angevin tower. Reachable on foot from Termini in 45 min. Views of Capri at 4.9 km. One of Italy's first marine protected areas.

Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi

The most spectacular viewpoint on the peninsula: from this hamlet you can simultaneously see the Gulf of Naples to the north (with Vesuvius and Capri) and the Gulf of Salerno to the south (with the Amalfi Coast). Free, parking available.
