Practical beach tips
When to go
In July and August, arrive before 9 am to find a spot. Evening is the best time to enjoy beaches with fewer crowds.
What to bring
Most beaches are pebbled: bring water shoes. A waterproof bag is handy for beaches accessed by boat or trail.
Costs
A beach club costs between €15 and €35 per person (sun lounger + umbrella). All beaches also have a free public section.
Water quality
The coast's water is among the cleanest in Italy, with Blue Flag status in many stretches. Underwater visibility is excellent: bring a mask.
